"Right to Education Act of 2009” states that every child aged 6-14 years has the right to free and compulsory education. SRK believe that all children, particularly girls from poor and disadvantaged families, access and complete education from pre-primary to secondary levels, thus realizing their right to inclusive and quality education. However the realities reflect inequitable access to Early Childhood Education; poor learning outcomes in early grades which leads to learning deficits; discriminative social norms, gender-stereotyped curriculum and lack of an inclusive, protective environment within the schools 

"According to the data shared by the Ministry of Education, Bihar (61.8 %) has the lowest literacy 

Total Rural literacy rate is 43.9%. In rural areas of Bihar, Male and Female literacy rate is 57.1 and 29.6 respectively".

To address these barriers and to ensure all children, particularly vulnerable girls from excluded communities realize their right to an inclusive and quality education, SRK has taken multipronged approach which includes :    

• Improve technical capacity and investment in early childhood education.
• Strengthen capabilities to provide onsite support to school teachers and School Governance.
• Improve technical expertise in mobilizing and promoting education with girls (dropped out, irregular or never enrolled).
• Building program convergence models with gender responsive Child Protection.
• Influence governments and donors to increase investment in Girl's education.

The primary challenge in the Indian society and world of work includes persistent inequalities and exclusion among young women & girls in general and among men and boys of underprivileged background. 

Secondly, the challenge is that the youth possess little or no job skills relevant to the market requirements. 

Thirdly, the job creation for skilled youth is also a challenge". 

SRK promotes increased participation of young men and women in the workforce by providing relevant skills as per the market requirements. It also ensures the relevance to the socially and geographically disadvantaged and marginalized groups to have quality vocational training and job placement.

It helps increase resilience among young people and effectively engage in decent work according to their choices and context.

• Facilitate link for youth entrepreneur 
• Information literacy on available government schemes

Bihar have men, new mothers, and children experience severe illness or death each year, largely from preventable or treatable causes. Many of our children and young people are not getting the nutrition they need, which is undermining their capacity to grow, develop and learn to their full potential. 

As per the report:-

"Bihar is one of the high priority state with 8.8% children with severe wasting which accounts to around 14 lakh children as per NFHS-5 Report. As per epidemiological data bout 10% are likely to develop complications due to infection of various kind. 

42.8% children severely malnourished in Bihar Bihar have the high infant mortality rate because: Bihar have lack of health facilities. Child rearing practices not every traditional practice is good. 

One in two girls aged 15-19 is undernourished and one-third of women of reproductive age are undernourished. Close to three million girls are married before the legal age of 18 years and 370,000 girls are pregnant during adolescence (NFHS-4)". 

Key Actions: 

• Improve community involvement to identify and address harmful social and gender norms with reference to improved health and nutrition practices
• Improve sanitation and hygiene services
• Establish community-based support system to improve quality and coverage
• Initiate online social media campaign targeting youth and young adults on Right to Nutrition, Eat Right, Eat Safe and Eat Healthy
• Information literacy among girls and young women on National Health and Nutrition Policy and available schemes.
